Plan for a tunnel connection under the Bering Strait between Siberia and Alaska

I had no idea we were so close to Russia, 60 miles!!! I wonder if they'll loosen visa requirements for Americans travelling to Russia if this happens.

Turkish Haircut

My first Turkish Haircut back in 2008

My cousin is getting married Friday, so I got a fresh hair cut on Tuesday. Using hand signals (I can't speak to anyone) I worked out the following:

15 minutes of cutting with a buzzer

20 minutes of cutting with scissors

5 minutes waiting while the dude talked on his cell phone

5 minute shampoo afterwards

5 minute shoulder, neck, and back massage

3 minutes of styling with hair gel

5 minutes of a very excessive cologne and aftershave application

The last time I got my haircut in Turkey Casey Wedding convinced the guy to give me a mullet. This time I walked in with a euro-mullet and walked out sin mullet.

Working the System

Today I traded 1 delayed flight from Washington D.C. to JFK which probably never left due to bad weather (all other flights to NYC were cancelled already) for a refund and free round trip ticket anywhere in the continental US, then hopped on a $25 bus, where I am now using the free wifi and power outlets. I'll arrive in Brooklyn about 4 hours later than originally scheduled.

Stray Dogs Roam Roman Bath Ruins

Today is my second to last day in Ankara, and the weather was decent, which meant it was time to finish my sight seeing.

Pictured below is the Ruins of an old Roman Bath, where I stumbled upon a pack of stray dog puppies amongst some ancient Roman tomb stones. The mother barked at me and ran away, then I noticed the puppies hidden between the cracks. A few puppies came out to say hello, and I figured the Mom was coming back with her homies, but instead she just hung out and barked with the rest of the adult strays in front of what I later found out is a whore house.

Lightning Storm

There was a cool lightning storm last night here in Ankara. I've always wanted to get a sweet picture of lightning, and I almost pulled it off last night. You can see the sky is lit and theres a bit of the lightning bolt in the top right corner. Then there was a 4.1 earthquake centered in Ankara a few hours later.

Next Stop Libya

Walked by the Libyan Embassy here in Ankara the other day, they had photos of Libya posted out front. Looked some more online when I got home, I'm now planning a trip, it looks amazing. Let me know if you're interested...
